BCIL Little Acre: Experience the Jungle...
About
We called it after the celebrated novel of Erskine Caldwell, God’s Little Acre. The name resonated in our minds as we stood on one of the seven mountains that make this verdant campus. It is a 30 minutes’ drive from Madikeri, the lazy hill town perched at 5000 feet msl. Little Acre nestles in a rare rainforest ecosystem that receives about 7200 mm rainfall a year. That is over 23 feet of annual rainfall!
The forest is dense. Its complexity of life is fascinating as you trudge deeper into the foliage. When you look up at the towering buttressed trees, time seems to stand still. Many parts of this forest have never been trodden on by any human being – for all time.
BCIL has offered, 25 personally crafted chalets for those who see the need to protect this forest from the hands of the loggers who deplete forests, and for those who see value in an investment that can bring you the pleasure of living, or holidaying in one's own forest while they earn a decent annual income from their investment by way of earnings from discerning tourism that BCIL manages for them. The pictures here sure speak better than our words. But they don’t speak as well as the invigorating experience that the place itself offers.

The interesting set of features that we offer at Little Acre is that the entire campus is grid-free. Water for all the luxury chalets is not driven by energized pumps but by hydraulic rams and solarised pumps.
All lighting and power needs are driven with our own green power generation facility. Chalets use a warm blend of palm wood, treated bamboo that will last years, and reinforced bamboo structures that lend elegance to interiors.
